Digital Citizenship and Literacy

It is a tremendous and important responsibility to provide relevant digital literacy that is socially and culturally responsive to the demographics, economic needs, and identities of students, teachers, parents, administrators, and leaders in the community.

ISTE Standards: Digital Citizenship

Being digital literate begins with understanding and embracing digital citizenship as part of everyday engagement and interaction with curriculum disciplinary content, innovative best practices, and digital resources.

CASEL Group: Social and Emotional Learning

Picture
The CASEL group developed what is called the "CASEL Wheel" that focused on the five (5) competencies of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Framework. These competencies are: self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision-making, relationship skills, and social awareness.

The integration of these competencies is not only meant in delivering SEL instruction and develop positive classroom climate. Schools can benefit further with SEL when it is incorporated in school wide culture, practices, and policies. Likewise, these SEL competencies can support the development of authentic partnerships between schools and families/caregivers. Last but not the least, SEL competencies can provide alignment of learning opportunities with broader communities.
